Omni-Directional Underwater Movement

Gladius' unique quad thruster design allows responsive and accurate navigation in all directions.

The quad-thruster design lets the drone move nimbly with four degrees of freedom:

  • left/right
  • forward/back
  • rise/fall
  • roll

The powerful rear thrusters will have Gladius zooming through the water (forwards or backwards) at speeds of 2 meters or 6.6 feet per second or at 4 knots.

With similarities to a gaming system. you move Gladius through the operation of two joysticks.

One operates the forward. back. and turning of the drone (think of it like walking). while the other operates the direction in which the camera faces (think of it like moving your head).

Piloting Depth. Range & Time Submersed

The Gladius underwater drone is capable of diving up to 100 meters (328ft) deep with a horizontal range of 500 meters (1640ft). while staying submerged for 3 hours.

The internal cabin of Gladius is sealed and uses aluminum alloy materials with oxidation treatment to ensure the drone is waterproof and corrosion resistant. allowing it to safely dive to 100 meters or 328 feet with ease.

Our unique semi-tether connection system increases the practical range of Gladius up to 500m or just over 1.600 feet. As radio waves don't travel well in water. this tether allows the drone to communicate with the towable buoy by direct wiring.

The tether connects to a towable. floating buoy which wireless connects to your smartphone remote control via long range Wifi communication. The buoy has an integrated wireless module with a range of up to 30m (98ft) for the Standard model and an impressive 500m (1.640ft) for the Advanced model.

Finally. Gladius' Polymer Lithium batteries have a run time of 3.5 hours while only requiring 1.5 hours of recharge time.

Neutral Buoyancy & Software Supported Stability

Neutral buoyancy means that the body of the drone has a density equal to that of the water in which it is immersed. so the drone doesn't float or sink.

The structure of Gladius was specially designed for neutral buoyancy in the water. Combined with our unique PID software algorithm. this ensures that the drone maintains stability while you're shooting video and photo.

This means Gladius will always stay suspended in place so you can precisely inspect an object at any depth.

Semi-Tether Communication System

The Gladius use unique semi-tether connection system. which extremely increase the practical range of vehicle up to 500 meters.

The tether connects to a towable. floating buoy which wirelessly connects to your smartphone remote control via long range Wifi communication.

The maximum tether length is 100 meters. so how could Gladius achieve 500 meters operation range?

  • Unlike the traditional ROV. the horizontal range can be independent of the tether length. Gladius uses a neutrally buoyant tether to communicate to a towable buoy on the surface and the buoy connects to the pilot using a long range WiFi communication. The floating buoy has an integrate a wireless module with up to 500 meters wireless range (only in Advanced Edition). Even if you use the 30 meter tether. you still have a 500 meters horizontal operating range.

How to charge the Gladius?

  • Itᄀᆵs very easy. The charging port is on the backend of the drone. Just open it and connect to the charger. One full charge takes around 90 minutes.

How to use the Gladius?

  • We use controller and smartphones to control the Gladius. The controller is used for controlling the movement. and the smartphone (with app) is used for shooting. watching and setting. Both are easy to set up and have a friendly UI.

How do I know when the Gladius is running out of power?

  • You can monitor the live information of batteries on the app. When the battery life reaches 20%. the APP will display a Low Battery warning. You can guide the Gladius back to you or pull the cable if the battery dies. The cable can resist a 50kg pull force so you do not need to worry about breaking anything.
